In the old days there was a Stalking merit badge for Boy Scouts. Awesome! I've been thinking about it a lot ever since then. When we were in Vegas at the Int'l Boy Scout Museum I found an old patch.
This merit badge is no longer part of the Boy Scouts for obvious reasons. Stalking really meant Tracking, Tracking an animal that is. So it is in the hunting category. But I love the name!

Nice that you were able to track that down! And good thing they went with an animal for the artwork, instead of, say, a man with binoculars and a knife. :-)
Love Lonita's comment and I totally agree with her.
WAY COOL!!!!!!!
From my 1948 "Handbook for Boys" Chapter 13 is titled "Tracking and Stalking." It goes on to state, "To be successful in tracking and stalking, you need to know four things: something about the animals themselves; how to find their tracks or other signs; how to follow those tracks; how to stalk so that you can get close enough for a good look." That should be enough to pull it from any of today's Scout books.
